A Father's Dream, A Daughter's Promise

Growing up in a country with shops and companies named after our father, one July evening in 2010, he expressed his desire to register a company with his name and daughters. He asked our mother if she was okay with it or if she wanted her maiden name included too! Her response was simple: we are a family. This will be a significant step in our society, so let’s just keep it ‘Kapur and Daughters.’ And so, it was sealed and accepted!

Amidst the typical patriarchy of familial and social relations, a feminist decision had been made, and it was a reason to celebrate! It was the 4th of July, our father's birthday.

Notes and sketches on the company’s logo began, along with discussions about what this company would do. From ideas of running a carwash service to offering plumbers, electricians, and carpenters on demand, to setting up affordable DIY clothes washing outlets (like abroad) and starting a home kitchen and café, the dream began to take shape. We even envisioned sharing and selling custom gifts, like personalized mugs featuring Ravi Kapur artwork and vintage car paintings. The Company was formed.

But life had other plans...later that year, a stroke hit, and life paused for some time. Yet, the stories continued to be told, the ideas kept flowing, and the sketching and painting created beautiful gifts of love. The humor and laughter, the movie and TV binge-watching, outings, and travels, along with dancing and the harmonica, continued to bring joy.

For eight years, we cared, shared, and lived the dream, slowly making it happen until the end came in 2018. Another pause...this time for the daughters to heal, reflect, and re-energize...

The DREAM of a father and the promise made by a daughter to go public was fulfilled this 4th July 2022, on his 80th birthday anniversary, knowing that our father is cheering with his partner in life and death, blessing his daughters and their families.
